My painting "nephrite" is part botanical and part mollusk, combining two of my favorite themes. The curves and contours allude to a polished carving, and the color is most reminiscent of the mineral jade, but my representation is more of an organic scene. The movement implied is more akin to a living animal's than a static carving from stone. This creature is exposing a spine of sorts, revealing the potential of two intertwined creatures.

I've been creating art since I was a kid. It's something that has always been good medicine for me. My images are often created intuitively from my imagination. Inspired by the natural world, I think about the things I've experienced as I paint or draw. Before I realize it, I've drifted away from this world for a while.
